About RMS Resins
When I switched to 1/32 scale slots, I was looking for additional vintage Trans-Am series cars to go with the 1969 Camaro and Mustang Scalextric produced. That proved to be a fruitless search and I decided I would have to produce my own field of cars. Thanks to my very good friend Shawn Carpenter who tutored me in resin casting, here we are.
Two years after I began this quest, I've met more folks that I now consider friends than I ever imagined I would. I've sold kits around the world, and that proves that this phenomenon called slot cars is alive and well.
I've recently branched into vintage and not-so-vintage stock cars & even a generic stocker truck. It seems some folks just can't get enough of cars that only turn left. There is quite a bit of fodder to model there, and I'm having fun with it.
Who am I? I am often asked. I'm a 40 year-old little boy that still plays with cars both big and small. I live in the best place one could live - Colorado. Oh, and I do bleed orange and blue, so go light on the Broncos jokes, or I'll ship your order out r e a l slow. I've lived here since 1977, but have lived in South Dakota, the D.C. area, and in Germany for several years (I loved it!). I've got a wonderful wife who tolerates me and my toys and we've got two great kids who can beat me at slot car races, video games, board games, and everything else. As a result of this lopsided and unfair advantage they have over me, I've handicapped them both by gifting them my short DNA. Meaning they'll be lucky to hit 5'7". Ha! Fool with dad will you... I'll fix your wagon!
I occasionally race real cars, continue to drive and restore my 1968 Chevelle, and like to four-wheel my Jeep Cherokee.
I'm also stuck in the 80's musically, so you'll usually find the likes of Def Leppard, Rush, or ZZ-Top in my stereo. If I could just get my mullet to grow back, life would be peachy. If I could just get any hair to grow back, life would be really, really peachy.
I don't like to get into battles over scale, correct valve stem caps, or any of the other things that ruin the hobby for some. I strive to make my bodies realistic within reason. If it is “close enough” in size to the Scalextric Camaro, it’s good enough for me. I figure if the car is sliding on it's roof past you at warp 4, it would be tough to tell anyway. Besides, I'm one of the "weird" ones that places emphasis on scenery first, and the cars are icing. I'm really just a closet model railroader that likes to go faster.
I hope you enjoy the kits as much as I enjoy creating them.
